WE HAD HIM by Maya Angelou

Wonderful tribute poem by Dr. Maya Angelou representing fans around the world for Michael Jackson.
Truely, WE HAD HIM....

WE HAD HIM

Beloveds,

Now we know that we know nothing,
Now that our bright and shining star
Can slip away from our finger tips

like a puff of summer wind.

Without notice, our dear love can escape our doting embrace
Sing our songs among the stars and walk or dances across the phase of the moon

In the instant we learn that Michael is gone
We know nothing
No clocks can tell our time
And
no oceans can rush our tides

With the abrupt absence of our treasure,
Though we are many,
Each of us is achingly alone,
Piercingly alone.
Only when we confess our confusion
can we remember that He was a gift to us
And we did have Him

He came to us from the creator
trailing creativity and abundance,
Despite the anguish of life
He was sheath in mother love and family love
and survived
and did not more than that
He thrived with passion and compassion
humor and style.

We had him
Whether we knew who he was
or did not know
He was ours and we were His

We had him,
beautiful , delighting our eyes,
He raked his hat
slant over his brow
and took a pose on his toes for all of us
and we laughed and stomped our feet for him
We were enchanted with his passion
because he held nothing
He gave us all he had been given

Today, in Tokyo, beneath the Eifle Tower,
in Ghanna's Black Star Square,
in Johanesberg and Pittsburg,
In Burmingham Alabama and Burmingham England
we are missing Michael Jackson
But we do know WE HAD HIM

and We are the World

I thank you, Michael Jackson, for everything... I really do.

Vinho Verde

Purple bar, Seattle, is known for its vast collection of wines. With a cylinder cellar located in the middle of the floor and a spiral staircase twirling around the 20-foot tower, anyone would be tempted to try their selection of wines. Not only was the food UPSCALE and AMAZINGly good, but their smart choice of combining wine into the picture scored them extra points, big time.

Ahhh~ My first tingling taste of Vinho Verde - a Protugal white wine, was at Purple and I knew there and then that I was in heaven. Originated from the northernmost province of Minho, Verde - green in Portugal, is named so not because of the color but because the region is very green. The waiter suggested the '03 Arca Nova to go with our seafood entrees, especially my seared pear salmon. One can easily taste a hint of sweetness at the end of each sip, balanced with its grape spritz flavor. The resulting combination gives a clean, light and refreshing after-taste in the mouth too. With its low alcohol content (only 10 percent, I believe), this wine definitely goes well with the ladies, not to mention at a lightly lit ambient environment like Purple. We couldn't resist but to order another bottle for the table. No doubt the price of the Verde was hella cheap but to me, this wine is definitely a great find.

*CHEERS!*
